The M&A insurance specialist joins at a time of unprecedented growth at Fusion, which provides specialist insurance designed for small and medium businesses.
Fusion has appointed Katherine Simmonds as managing partner, the Sydney-based specialty insurer announced in a statement on Thursday. She joins Fusion from Gallagher, where she was head of corporate, Australia. Her previous roles include managing director, Australia and New Zealand at Ironshore Insurance, and head of M&A underwriting, Asia Pacific at AIG.
Based in Sydney, Simmonds will have global responsibilities for the firm and will help spearhead the growth of Fusion in the M&A insurance market across Australia, Asia Pacific, and in growth markets in the U.S. and Europe, the statement said.
Strong Growth
Established in 2018, Fusion said it is experiencing «significant demand,» having reached a new milestone of over 200 deals underwritten since its launch. The company has offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong and Chicago.
Fusion partners include Allianz, Markel, Zurich, and HDI Global Specialty. Earlier this year, it established a strategic partnership with Ping An to service clients in China and Hong Kong.
