Tesla’s Elon Musk and Binance’s Changpeng Zhao engaged in a mini media battle after the electric vehicle chief questioned the crypto giant’s recent Dogecoin issues.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk raised concerns about Dogecoin holders on social media after Binance limited withdrawals of the cryptocurrency due to a technical glitch.
«Hey [Zhao], what’s going on with your Doge customers?» asked Musk, tagging the Binance founder and CEO. «Sounds shady.»
According to a Binance statement issued one day after Musk’s comments, an upgrade of the Dogecoin network on November 10 may have caused issues with network withdrawals which affected a «very small number of users». Binance is currently working with the DOGE network with the intention of rebuilding digital wallets to hold the coins.
Binance Response
In response to Musk’s tweet, Binance said that the issue was «not shady» but rather «just frustrating».
Musk hit back by saying that Dogecoin holders using Binance should be «protected from errors that are not their fault».
CZ Response
In addition to the official Binance handle, Changpeng Zhao – also commonly referred to by his initials «CZ» – also entered the fray with a cheeky post about recent technical issues with Tesla’s cars.
He reiterated on Twitter that Binance’s withdrawal issues were related to the latest Dogecoin wallets before adding a line that read «What happened here?» and a link to an article about a Tesla glitch that led to the recall of nearly 12,000 vehicles.
«I am Not Submissive or Cowardly»
Zhao also spoke in a video interview with «Yahoo Finance» about various issues including Musk’s tweets.
«I am not aggressive by nature, but not submissive or cowardly when it comes to defending our business,» he said.
«I view defending Binance as my job and the crypto industry as my life's mission. When he says something about that, which is also incorrect, he lacks research.»
