The private wealth arm of Deutsche Bank has appointed a new head of North Asia, finews.asia has learned.

Deutsche Bank Private Bank has appointed Frederick Fong as head of North Asia, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia, succeeding Kanas Chan who has left the German lender after 17 years to pursue opportunities elsewhere. Based in Hong Kong, Fong will report to head of emerging markets Marco Pagliara.

Fong first joined Deutsche Bank in 2004 as a graduate trainee. He would spend a two-year stint at J.P. Morgan Private Bank before returning to the Frankfurt-headquartered bank in 2008.

When contacted, a spokesperson for the bank confirmed the contents of the memo.
