Citi has named a new regional head of economic analysis for its global wealth management unit.
Li-Gang Liu has been appointed as the Asia Pacific head of economic analysis for Citi global wealth management (CGWM), according to a statement, reporting to Steven Wieting, chief investment strategist and CGWM chief economist alongside Roger Bacon, APAC head of CGWM APAC ultra-high net worth business.
Based in Hong Kong, Liu is tasked with providing thought leadership and policy analysis for the region’s key economies with a particular focus on China.
He has more than 20 years of experience and was most recently Citi Research’s chief economist for China since 2016. Previously, he also worked at ANZ, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Asian Development Bank Institute, the World Bank and the Peterson Institute for International Economics.
