Malaysia’s largest lender Maybank has appointed a new group president and chief executive, succeeding Abdul Farid Alias.

Maybank has appointed Khairussaleh Ramli as group president and CEO, according to a statement, effective May 1 this year.

He succeeds Abdul Farid Alias who will step down and end his current contract and third term on August 1, according to a previous exchange filing.

Khairussaleh, 54, joins from RHB Banking Group where he was most recently a group managing director tasked with strategy and leading the organization through it over a five-year period.

Previously, he also worked for Maybank between November 2008 and September 2013 as its chief financial officer as well as president-director and CEO of Indonesia. Prior to that, he was the group chief strategic officer at Telekom Malaysia Berhad and also spent eight years with Public Bank Group.
