Global commercial real estate giant JLL has hired a new managing director to strengthen its data center business.
Chris Street joins Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) in the newly created role of managing director of data centers, APAC, according to a statement.
Based in Singapore, Street will be responsible for business development and client management across all data center products and services in the region.
Street has over 20 years of data center and digital infrastructure experience worldwide, most recently with global data center operator Princeton Digital Group where he was tasked with strategic sales, marketing and ESG activities. Previously, he also worked at ST Telemedia Global Data Centers, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and more.
Data Center Business
According to JLL, the «strategic expansion» of the data center business is in response to the growing market in Asia and client appetite for «creative real estate and capital solutions for this asset class».
APAC data center investment transactions reached $5.4 billion in 2021 – up 30 percent year-on-year and more than double of levels in 2019. 85 percent of this volume is attributable to Greater China, India, Japan and Australia.
«Through our interactions with clients regionally and globally, it’s clear that demand for data center expertise is increasing and requires a platform offering advice and solutions that cater to both investors and occupiers,» said JLL’s APAC chief executive Anthony Couse.
«This continued growth – driven by technology, consumption and business operating shifts in Asia Pacific – means it’s the right time to provide an integrated offering under [Street’s] leadership and to expand our range of services in this sector regionally.»
