Real estate firm JLL has hired a former Standard Chartered executive to lead its dedicated energy and infrastructure offering in Asia Pacific from Singapore.

JLL has appointed James Cameron as head of energy & infrastructure for Asia Pacific within the capital markets business line, according to a statement, based in Singapore.

In the newly created role, he will be responsible for building a team in APAC while collaborating with JLL’s broader capital markets, investment banking and debt advisory teams across the region, focusing on the origination of capital raising and transaction advisory opportunities for large infrastructure and renewable transactions.

Cameron has over 25 years of real asset capital markets experience, most recently as global head of commercial real estate at Standard Chartered. Previously, he also led HSBC’s infrastructure and real estate group in APAC.

Dedicated Offering

JLL’s decision to launch a dedicated energy and infrastructure offering in Asia Pacific under Cameron’s leadership is due to «unprecedented long-term capital requirements to facilitate the infrastructure and renewables build-out required to meet the multiple challenges of decarbonization, digitalization, economic growth and rapid urbanization».

«We see significant opportunity to leverage our unique expertise in mobilizing multiple sources of capital and JLL’s unrivaled track record in advising renewables transactions globally to serve clients within energy and infrastructure across Asia Pacific,» said Stuart Crow, CEO, capital markets, Asia Pacific, JLL.
