Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group said Wednesday it has tapped Yezdan Badrakhan as managing director and head of U.S. esoteric asset-backed securities (ABS).
He will be responsible for expanding MUFG’s esoteric ABS business, including into new asset classes and for building up the firm’s ABS underwriting platform, the Japan-based financial group said in a press release.
Badrakhan has more than 13 years of structured finance experience, focused on esoteric asset classes, including aviation, rail and container, and he has also advised clients on ESG, the release said.
Previously at Morgan Stanley
He was previously at Morgan Stanley, where he handled the structured products capital markets’ transportation business, MUFG said.
Badrakhan, who will be based in New York, will report to Tricia Hazelwood, who is international head of securitized products, the release said.
«We are happy to have Yezdan join the team to help support our commitment to serving our clients and growing our securitized products business,» Hazelwood said in the statement.
«His depth and breadth of structured finance knowledge along with his strong client and industry relationships will be key as we continue to penetrate more emerging asset classes,» she said.
