Citi has hired a former Prudential executive to lead its insurance unit in Hong Kong.

Mendy Chung joins Citi as head of insurance for Hong Kong, according to statement, effective immediately.  

In her new role, she will be tasked with the overall growth and management of Citi’s insurance business in Hong Kong and report to APAC and EMEA head of insurance Sujoy Ghosh as well as Hong Kong head of retail bank Josephine Lee.

Chung has over 20 years of management experience in the financial sector and is rejoining Citi after having previously worked at the U.S. firm. She was most recently working at Prudential’s Hong Kong unit as its chief partnership distribution officer, overseeing the bancassurance partnership. She also previously worked at Standard Chartered Bank, AIA, Hong Kong Telecommunications and Mevas Bank – an early pioneer of digital banking in Hong Kong before its acquisition by local lender Dah Sing in 2013.
