Nomura Holdings has tapped a new head of its investment banking business in Southeast Asia.
The Japanese investment bank has named Jwalant Nanavati as the new head of Southeast Asian investment banking, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia. Nanavati, who has been head of the Asia ex-Japan technology, media and telecom (TMT) investment banking team for Nomura, will relocated to Singapore from Hong Kong later this year, the memo said, noting he will also continue hold the TMT role.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Nanavati was the co-head of TMT investment banking for Asia Pacific at BNP Paribas from January 2016 to November 2018, when he joined Nomura. He also served as BNP Paribas’ managing director and head of advisory and capital markets for investment banking in India, the profile said. Nanavati was the director of investment banking for India at Deutsche Bank from 2008 to 2012, and was the vice president of investment banking in India for Lehman Brothers from 2006 until 2008, the profile said.
The memo said Nanavati is replacing Sarab Bhutani, who was leaving for personal reasons at the end of the month.
