Franklin Templeton Institute has named a veteran of National Australia Bank as an investment strategist for Asia Pacific.
The research arm of Franklin Templeton has tapped Christy Tan to lead in-house macroeconomic and investment research on capital markets and long-term investment themes for multiple asset classes in Asia Pacific, according to a statement. The newly created role will be based in Singapore.
Tan will report to Stephen Dover, who is chief market strategist and head of Franklin Templeton Institute.
Previously, Tan was the head of markets strategy at National Australia Bank (NAB), focusing on Australian institutions and pension funds seeking investments in Asia, and on investors seeking investments in Australia, the release said. Her LinkedIn profile indicates she was at NAB from 2014 to 2022.
According to Tan’s LinkedIn profile, which indicates she is fluent in Mandarin and Bahasa Indonesia, she was a director of Asian foreign-exchange strategy at Bank of America Merrill Lynch from 2005 to 2014; in that role, she was the local fixed income and currency strategist, handling macroeconomic forecasts for Asia markets.
Franklin Templeton has around $1.45 trillion in assets under management as of end-May.
