Chicago-based asset manager Nuveen has announced the appointment of a head of natural capital for Asia Pacific and Africa.
Kristina Hermanson joins Nuveen as head of natural capital, APAC & Africa, according to a statement, to oversee growth in farmland, timberland and nature-based investments. In her new role, she will be based in Sydney and work closely with James Freeman who will lead the Australian farmland business. Freeman takes over from Matt Bull who will retire at the end of the year.
Hermanson has 20 years of experience in the agricultural sectors, most recently as the managing director for Australia, New Zealand and ASEAN at agri-science firm FMS. Previously, she worked at Coca Cola Amatil and US multinational food firm ADM. Hermanson currently also serves on the board of directors at Australian Farm Institute and AgSafe Australia.
Nuveen Natural Capital has $9.4 billion of assets under management (AUM), as of June 30 this year, across 600 properties in 10 countries totalling 3 million acres. Overall, Nuveen has $.1 trillion in AUM.
