The co-head of the European investment bank at Credit Suisse left a mere three months after being named to the post. He has a new job in the upper echelons at Barclays.
The former dealmaker at Credit Suisse in London, Cathal Deasy, has a new position at Barclays as co-head of investment banking there, starting March 27, the bank announced Tuesday.
Deasy will work alongside Taylor Wright, co-head of global capital markets, both of whom report to Paul Compton, global head of Barclays Corporate & Investment Bank.
The Next Generation
Barclays Chief Executive Coimbatore Sundararajan Venkatakrishnan, known internally as Venkat, wants to expand the business while planning for succession, according to «Reuters». The appointment is part of nurturing the next generation of leaders and mindset, according to an internal memo.
Venkat is being treated for a non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and said in November doctors were optimistic about his prognosis and that he would continue to be involved in the bank's leadership.
Deasy had left Credit Suisse a few weeks ago, just months after being promoted to regional co-head of the Investment Banking & Capital Markets (IBCM) unit. At Credit Suisse, he managed some of the bank's largest client portfolios in Europe, having previously spent nine years at Deutsche Bank.
