Baltimore-headquartered T. Rowe Price has announced the appointment of a new Southeast Asia head of intermediary distribution.
T. Rowe Price appoints Nicholas Tong as head of Southeast Asia intermediary distribution, according to a statement. Based in Singapore, he reports to Glen Lee, head of intermediary distribution, Asia ex-Japan.
Tong has a decade of experience working with financial intermediaries in Southeast Asia, most recently as a vice president at Wellington Management, where he was responsible for business development with strategic private and retail banking clients in Singapore. Previously, he also held distribution roles at UBS Asset Management, PIMCO, and M&G Investments.
«[Tong’s] deep understanding of the Southeast Asia market and recognized client-centric approach make him the ideal candidate to drive T. Rowe Price's growth and foster strong client relationships in the region,» said Lee.
Since 1996
T. Rowe Price first established its presence in Asia in 1987 and expanded its footprint to Singapore in 1996. As of 30 September 2023, the US asset manager had a total of 22 funds that are recognized by the Monetary Authority of Singapore for sale to local retail investors. Overall, it has $1.4 trillion in assets under management globally.
«In line with our growth strategy and expansion into the retail segment, we aim to create and deepen partnerships with Southeast Asian intermediary clients,» Lee added. «Through understanding their needs, we will deliver timely, actionable insights and solutions to help them navigate change and achieve better outcomes.»
