New York-based Citi has appointed a 25-year veteran as its new country officer and head of banking for China.
Citi has appointed Luke Lu as country officer and head of banking for China, according to a statement, succeeding Christine Lam who will be retiring from the US lender. He will also assume the position of president and board director of Citibank (China) Co., Ltd. In the role, Lu reports to Angel Ng, head of Asia North and Australia, cluster and banking.
Lu has 25 years of banking experience in Hong Kong and mainland China. He first joined Citi’s Shanghai office in 2002 and held various leadership positions across corporate and commercial banking.
More Than a Century
Citi’s track record in China extends beyond a century after first opening for business in 1902. In 2017, it was amongst the first international banks to incorporate onshore. Since then, it has steadily expanded in the country and is now pursuing the establishment of wholly owned securities and futures companies.
