US lender Citi has appointed a 30-year veteran as the head of its commercial banking unit in Hong Kong.
Joy Cheng has been appointed as head of Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) for Hong Kong, according to a statement, succeeding Anson Kwok who retired on January 1. In the role, Cheng reports to Gunjan Kalra, head of CCB for Asia North, Australia & Asia South clusters, as well as Aveline San, CEO and head of banking for Citi Hong Kong and Macau.
Cheng has over 30 years of experience and she first began her career as a management associate at Citi. She was most recently the bank's head of corporate banking for Hong Kong. Previously, she also held other senior roles including head of financial institutions for Hong Kong and head of Asia Pacific multinational coverage for the financial institutions group.

Within Asia, CCB services clients in 11 markets including Australia, mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. According to Kalra, Hong Kong is one of CCB’s largest markets globally by flow revenue.
