US asset manager Federated Hermes has expanded its Asia Pacific sales team with a new hire in Japan.
Kozo Fujioka has joined Federated Hermes’ APAC sales team in Japan, according to a statement. Based in Tokyo, he reports to Wataru Horii, head of business development in Japan. In the newly created role, he is responsible for the alignment and distribution of Federated Hermes’ products to meet the needs of financial institution clients in Japan.
Fujioka was most recently head of financial institution clients at T. Rowe Price Japan. Previously, he also held other institutional investor sales roles at PIMCO Japan and J.P. Morgan Asset Management after first starting his career at Sumitomo Mitsui Asset Management.
Strategic Market
According to Jim Roland, who was appointed APAC head of business development in 2023, Japan is a «strategically important location» and the latest hire is part of the firm’s ambitions to support local clients, including leading pension funds and financial institutions. Federated Hermes launched its Japan presence in 2021, led by Horii, with a suite of equity, fixed income, and private markets solutions.
