The Middle Eastern digital banking arm of multi-family office Whampoa Group has announced the appointment of a finance and operations chief.
Singapore Gulf Bank (SGB) has appointed Ali AlShamma as chief financial officer (CFO) and Elaine Leong as chief operations officer (COO), according to a statement. Prior to the latest role, AlShamma was CFO at Goldman Sachs Saudi Arabia and Citigroup Saudi Arabia. Leong previously worked at GIC and Sygnum.
«We are pleased to welcome Ali and Elaine as they join us on our journey to transform how global users access banking services. Together, we will build a financial universe accessible to all,» commented Edmund Lee, SGB's founding chairman of the board.
SGB is the first fully licensed digital bank in Bahrain with a focus on facilitating financial connectivity between Asia and the Middle East and North Africa. It is an arm of Whampoa Group, a multi-family office headquartered in Singapore with renowned founders such as Amy Lee, niece of the late Lee Kuan Yew and the OCBC banking family's Lee Han Shih. It recently received an investment from Mumtalakat, Baharain’s sovereign wealth fund.
