Although it was founded in 1805 the Swiss bank Pictet has made a modern move by launching its branded internet domain name .pictet.
The Geneva based bank believes that by owning its own domain it will allow Pictet to transfer all its websites away from the conventional and widely-used .com web addresses to a domain exclusive to Pictet.
Pictet is the first wealth and asset manager in Switzerland to launch its branded domain name and one of about 500 major companies worldwide that have applied for their own internet name.
Security and Branding
«The .pictet domain name will greatly simplify the online user experience and make it clear to our clients and partners that they are engaging with a genuine Pictet website, we believe that as the significance of owning a proprietary company domain becomes more widely understood, it will be seen as the benchmark for web security and branding,» said Stephen Barber, Head of Group Corporate Communications at Pictet
Pictet will gradually move its websites to this proprietary domain name. During this transition, automatic redirects from traditional .com and country-specific web addresses will help site visitors access the information they seek.
