BSI’s former Asia CEO, who is under scrutiny from Singapore prosecutors over the bank’s ties with Malaysian fund 1 MDB, has lodged a lawsuit against his former employer after his bonus was frozen.
Hanspeter Brunner’s claim, according to an article from news agency «Bloomberg», declares that BSI’s Singapore unit breached bonus agreements and a separation pact with him, according to documents filed on July 4 in the Singapore High Court.
There is no legal basis for BSI to suspend the payment for deferred bonuses due last month, Brunner said in his complaint.
Litigious Habit
Brunner is among six BSI bankers referred to Singaporean prosecutors after its regulator said in May the bank would lose its license in «the worst case of control lapses and gross misconduct» in Singapore’s financial sector.
This is not the first time that litigation is associated with the now retired banker. After leaving Coutts in the city-state he took legal action claiming in a Zurich complaint that he was wrongfully fired.
finews.asia also reported on a case where Brunner was named by a local headhunting firm Mancano and Associates who took legal action requesting $5 million for successfully referring 23 employees, including deputy chief executive officer Raj Sriram, to BSI Bank.
