Hermes Investment Management has moved to strengthen its Asia Pacific coverage with a new business development hire.

Hermes Investment Management (Hermes) has announced that it has extended its Asia Pacific (APAC) business development team with the appointment of Tai Watanabe as business development assistant manager, Asia Pacific.

Watanabe will be based in Singapore at Hermes’ Asia headquarters and will report to Jakob Nilsson, head of APAC and business development, the firm said in a media announcement.

He joins from J.P. Morgan Chase Bank where he was sales support and back office team leader for FX clients based in Singapore. Prior to which, he supported on the Global Commodities Sales & Trade team, as well as the Listed Futures & Options Clearing and Settlements team, at Barclays Investment Bank Singapore.

Watanabe also held various roles in Japan with Sawakami Asset Management and Credit Suisse Securities. 

He will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of Hermes APAC sales and distribution strategies across both its Asian institutional and wholesale businesses.
