The Former IBM Chief Information Officer has joined ANZ’s International Technology Advisory Panel.

Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) has announced the appointment of Jeff Smith to its International Technology and Digital Business Advisory Panel.

The expert panel was established in 2015 to advise the ANZ Board on the strategic application of new technologies and on emerging trends in technology, digital and social media that affect the banks’ business and strategic direction.

Smith joins the advisory panel after having served as a senior executive at IBM where he has been global Chief Information Officer for the past three years.

Faster Transformation Required

In addition to his role managing technology and systems, he was responsible for rolling out an Agile culture across the entire company. Previously Smith was Chief Executive Officer at Suncorp Business Services and was CIO at Telstra from 2001 to 2005.

«We need to deliver this transformation at a much faster pace through new ways of working, so Jeff’s leadership in technology roles and his experience of implementing an Agile culture make him a valuable inclusion to the panel,» said Shayne Elliott ANZ Chief Executive Officer.

ANZ’s International Technology and Digital Business Advisory Panel meets this week for its latest quarterly meeting.
