Standard Chartered private bank has issued an update on its recent hiring as it expands its global South Asia business in Singapore. 

Bharath Shetty has been appointed Managing Director and Team Head, Private Banking the bank said in a statement.

Shetty was most recently with Julius Baer where he led and managed a team of senior Non Resident Indian (NRI) bankers covering the Indian sub-continent, Singapore, Middle East, Africa, U.K. and Europe.

In May Gagan Mehrotra joined Standard Chartered (SCB) as Executive Director, Private Banking. Prior to taking on his new role Mehrotra worked at J.P. Morgan in Singapore where he was responsible for managing key ultra high new worth (UHNW) relationships. Before that he was with Coutts also in Singapore. 

Julius Baer Trio

During June and earlier this month Apurva Kothari, Komal Syal and Deepak KV all joined SCB from Julius Baer as Managing Director's covering South Asian markets 

All of the new hires are based in Singapore, and report to Vishal Jain, Managing Director and Market Head, Global South Asia Community (GSAC) Asia.

Business Takes Shape

Jain joined SCB in 2016 from Barclays Wealth where he was Managing Director and led a team of 40 relationship managers across the India Private Banking business.

At SCB he re-connected with another former Barclays man Didier von Daeniken who is now the Global Head, Private Banking & Wealth Management at SCB.
