Dutch asset manager Robeco has appointed a new president and representative director for its Japanese operations.
With immediate effect Shiro Tsubota takes on the lead role from Kikuo Kuroiwa, who will leave the firm once the management transition has been completed, the company said on its website.
Tsubota has two decades of asset management industry experience in Japan. Before joining Robeco, he served for five years as chief executive officer for Henderson Global Investors Japan.
Japanese Market Expansion
Prior to this, he was head of Operations Asia-Pacific Region at Pimco and held senior positions at Deutsche Asset Management and Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
In his new position, Tsubota will focus on expanding Robeco’s Japan business and continue to offer Robeco’s investment strategies, including quant, sustainability investing, credit, global and emerging markets equities to Japanese investors.
He will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of Robeco Japan.
in his new role Tsubota reports to Graham Elliot, managing director and head of Asia Pacific Distribution, who is based in Hong Kong.
