Manulife Asset Management appointed a new head of equities, Singapore, nabbing an industry veteran from a rival.
The global asset management arm of Manulife announced Chan Hock Fai as head of equities investment in Singapore. In the new role his primary responsibilities will be to lead all of the Singapore-based equity strategies and have oversight of the local team of equities investment professionals.
Prior to joining Manulife Asset Management, Hock Fai was director of Investment for Amundi Asset Management in Singapore where he managed Singapore, regional (Asia Pacific ex-Japan) and global multi-asset portfolios, the asset manager said in a press release.
The Asia equities team as a whole currently comprises over 80 on-the-ground investment professionals across 10 Asian markets. Last year Manulife made a number of structural and leadership changes across its North American and Asian units bringing its global wealth and asset management units together.
