Fortunately, she had a teacher who went out of her way to make her feel welcome, helped her get through that first year and taught her what it meant to be inclusive, especially with those who are «outsiders».

Basketball and Choir
Originally educated in microbiology and immunology she achieved a Bachelor of Applied Science followed by a Master of Business Administration in international finance, both at the University of British Columbia in the late eighties. According to friends from that time Hsu was also keen on basketball and choir singing. In the early nineties she moved to Citibank.
But it is only by the end of 2006 that she really started a steep career in the financial industry by becoming Citibank's regional head at Citigold Wealth Management in Asia, a division dedicated to affluent clients. In the following years, based in Singapore, she took over additional responsibilities at the U.S. bank in the region.
External Activities
Hsu joined Standard Chartered in December 2009 charged with leading the strategic review and upgrading the bank’s underperforming wealth management business. As a result of her efficiency and talent, in September 2015 Hsu was promoted to Singapore CEO and global head of wealth management. With Marrs departure in June, Hsu will take on the role of regional CEO, Asean and South Asia.
Hsu is also a member of The Institute of Banking and Finance Council and sits on the Statutory Board of Workforce Singapore.
