«Malaysia’s post-election restructuring has started to present more opportunities for listings, many of which were on hold during the election period. Announcements on strategic priorities for both asset owners and portfolio managers provides investors with clarity of future situations,» said Felicity Chan, head of Southeast Asia equity syndicate at Credit Suisse.

Vietnam: A Rising Star

Amongst the six core SEA markets, Vietnam appears to be a rising star for ECM deals. Year-to-date, Vietnam makes up 20 percent of SEA's total ECM volume, according to Dealogic.

For Credit Suisse, their most notable transaction was the Initial Equity Offering of Vinhomes JSC valued at $2.2 billion. «We expect robust activity in Vietnam due to its underlying growth story and attractive demographics,» Chan said.

«SEA provides a better proxy for higher quality emerging market growth,» said Low. By that, he is referring to the region's better rule of law, more educated workforce, and better infrastructure compared to other emerging markets.
