He will lead Avarium's new Singapore office, which will be a regional hub that complements its Hong Kong operations.
London-based Alvarium Investments has appointed Priyaranjan Kumar to lead its new Singapore office, the boutique investment firm announced on Wednesday, «The Business Times» reported.
Kumar spent the past two decades at global commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield, most recently as regional executive director, capital markets, Asia-Pacific. He also held senior roles in the firm's international operations and investment sales divisions, according to his LinkedIn profile.
His first task as managing director will be building the wealth manager's team in Singapore, which is expected to grow from 2 currently to 30 by the end of 2020, Kumar said. He will also be responsible for expanding Alvarium’s relationships with investors and operating partners, the report said.
Global Expansion Plans
The firm, which offers investment advisory, co-investment and merchant banking services, was formerly known as L.J. Partnership before its rebranding as Alvarium. Since 2018, the group has acquired a number of wealth managers worldwide, including in New Zealand, France, Italy and Hong Kong, as part of its global expansion plans. It also named former Lazard banker Ken Costa as co-chairman and Qatar Investment Authority mergers and acquisitions head Ali Bouzarif as partner.
According to Andrew Williams, co-chairman and co-founder of Alvarium, Kumar's hire puts the firm «in a strong position to take advantage of investment opportunities in Asia.»
The firm has $15 billion in assets under management globally.
