The Australian Securities Exchange has appointed Robert Woods as non-executive director, effective January 1, 2020, the Sydney-based bourse announced this week in a statement.
Woods has over three decades of experience in financial markets and a strong understanding of ASX and its businesses, the statement noted. He was ASX's director of its subsidiary clearing and settlement boards for the past four years, and chairman of ASX Clear and ASX Settlement, the licensees for ASX's cash equities clearing and settlement facilities.
Woods was previously chief executive of strategy at Australian investment manager Challenger, and was the firm's chief executive of its fund management and asset management businesses. He began his career at Bankers Trust Australia, rising to become executive vice‐president and head of equity derivatives.
New Chairman for Licensees
Stephen Knight will take over as chairman of ASX Clear and ASX Settlement, the announcement noted. Knight is a director of ASX’s subsidiary clearing and settlement boards since June 2019, and was previously CEO of NSW Treasury Corporation.
ASX also appointed financial services and tech expert Carolyn Colley as a non‐executive director of its subsidiary clearing and settlement boards. She has over 30 years’ experience in financial services, technology and innovation, and is currently COO of global analytics software‐as‐a‐service platform Faethm. She has also held senior executive roles at Macquarie Bank, St George Bank and BT Financial Group
