The new unit, which will expand digital services worldwide, aims to attract additional customers and meet their rapidly changing needs.
Current APAC CEO Jack Howell will begin his new role on as head of the Global Business Platforms unit January 1, 2021, the global insurance firm announced in a statement on Wednesday.
Howell, who joined Zurich in 2016, is ideally suited for the role, given his success in expanding and transforming the firm's business in APAC and driving the Group's innovation, the announcement said.

New Regional CEOs
Taking over Howell's position is Tulsi Naidu, who has been Zurich’s CEO in the U.K. since 2016. She has over 20 years of financial services experience. Before Zurich, she held a number of executive positions in Prudential's U.K. and Europe business.
She also worked for Credit Suisse First Boston Investment Banking in Singapore, ICICI in Mumbai, and began her career at Arthur Andersen.
Other new CEOs named for regions included Laurence Maurice in Latin America and Kristof Terryn in North America.
Ping An Technology CEO Joins
Zurich also announced the appointment of group chief information and digital officer Ericson Chan, who will start on October 1. He will spearhead the planning, development and operation of the technology functions and online ecosystems.
Chan is currently CEO of Ping An Technology, where he helped transform the company's business model and online ecosystems through digital services. Chan also held several technology leadership roles at Standard Chartered Bank in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore between 1998 and 2016.
