One of the Swiss lender's most senior technologists in Asia has joined the Singapore sovereign wealth fund.
Lawrence Beck has joined GIC as a director in the technology group, according to «eFinancialCareers» on Tuesday.
Beck spent over 11 years at Credit Suisse in Hong Kong, most recently as a managing director and head of investment banking technology for Asia Pacific, the report said. Beck was also APAC head of equities technology and head of fixed income technology. He was previously at Morgan Stanley for 17 years, leaving as an executive director as per his LinkedIn profile.
Tech Focus
The sovereign wealth fund has increasingly turned its gaze toward tech investments of late, particularly the growing digital assets sector. Recent additions to its portfolio include blockchain analysis company Chainalysis, as well as U.S. based crypto bank Anchorage.
«eFinancialCareers» noted that some 30 percent of GIC's total Singapore-based vacancies are in tech, including a head of data engineering role.
