Hong Kong will impose tighter travel restrictions in the midst of the new outbreak of coronavirus variant Omicron.
All countries with community outbreaks of Omicron cases will be classified as «Group A» high risk regions, according to Hong Kong officials yesterday.
Non-Hong Kong residents that have stayed in «Group A» countries within 21 days will not be allowed to enter the city.
In addition to South Africa, which was already classified as a «Group A» nation, the Hong Kong government also included Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe as Group A specified places.
Hong Kong Quarantine Rules
For Hong Kong residents returning from «Group A» countries, they will be required to undergo a government quarantine for seven days with daily testing before another 14-day quarantine at designated hotels.
They are also required to undergo testing on the 9th, 12th, 16th and 19th day alongside another compulsory testing in a community testing center on the 26th day of arrival to the city.
