FBI agent Sean Kern told the jury of Roger Ng's trial about how he traced $35 million allegedly siphoned from 1MDB to a shell company and some of the subsequent luxury purchases made.
During his testimonial, FBI agent Sean Fern said he was able to track the funds to an offshore account controlled by Roger Ng’s mother-in-law, Tan Kim Chin.
According to a «Bloomberg» report citing Fern, at least $24.4 million was directed from Judy Chan Leissner’s account to Tan’s account in May 2012, weeks after the first 1MDB bond deal closed.
In 2013, $10.7 million was sent through two transactions from accounts under Chan Leissner’s control to Tan’s offshore account.
Lux Purchases
In addition, to fund transfers, Fern also shared details about some purchases made from the 1MDB money.
$300,000 of diamond jewelry was bought including a six-carat ring alongside a #20,000 gold-plated hourglass.
