JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon continues to make headlines about US-China relations, this time with comments supporting Washington’s foreign policy.
Top US officials are «talking about the right things» with regard to its foreign policy strategy on China, according to a «Bloomberg» report citing JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon. The comments were made during Dimon’s visit to the US Capitol to meet the New Democrat Coalition for various subjects, including China.
«This takes time. It will take a lot of work,» Dimon said. «[The administration is] getting a lot of help from the business community about what’s the right way to do it without damaging American and international businesses.»
«Keep the Allies»
According to Dimon, US foreign policy on China should be bipartisan and established in consultation with allies.
«We have to keep the allies with us. We do certain things, the allies get mad at us, that’s a mistake,» he said.
«Not a 10-Foot Giant»
Dimon also spoke about the US’s relative strength compared to China, citing supportive demographics, peace in the west, larger GDP per capita and the world’s most powerful military as advantages.
«They are not a 10-foot giant. We made some mistakes in the past, let’s just fix it going forward. We have the most prosperous economy the world’s ever seen,» he added.
The comments follow a recent Asia tour that included a visit to host a JPMorgan summit in Shanghai. Dimon also paid a visit to Taiwan but declined to comment on what he called «the tough foreign policy questions».
