A Singapore judge has sentenced a businessman to prison over fraud in the Wirecard case.
Henry Yeo, a director at Jacobson Fareast Marketing Services, pleaded guilty to three charges in a Singapore court and was sentenced to a 12-month prison term.
«Wirecard Asia suffered a total loss of S$123,070 ($91,072) as a result of the accused’s participation in the conspiracy to dishonestly misappropriate money from its account,» according to a «Bloomberg» report citing deputy public prosecutor Vincent Ong in court.
Last week, two ex-employees of Wirecard Asia were sentenced to jail for conspiring to misappropriate money. The Monetary Authority of Singapore also imposed S$3.8 million in penalties on four financial institutions – DBS, OCBC, Citi and Swiss Life – for breaches related to Wirecard.
