Singapore has been a recipient of a significant amount of foreign funds since 2020, according to the local regulator, primarily from the Americas.
The Americas was the leading source of foreign fund inflows in 2020 and 2021, according to a statement by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), in response to an inquiry by a local parliament member. This was followed by Asia Pacific and Europe.
Overall, assets under management of foreign clients managed by financial institutions in Singapore increased by about S$600 billion ($443 billion) on average in 2020 and 2021 each.
The figure accounts for all foreign investor types, including both non-retail individual and institutional clients.
