California-headquartered Franklin Templeton has opened a new office in South Korea to support the local pension authority.
Franklin Templeton has opened a new office in Jeonju, South Korea, and commenced operations, according to a statement. The new contact office is responsible for supporting Korea’s National Pension Service (NPS) by performing a liaison function for related work, including market research and analysis.
NPS has been managing its assets through Franklin Templeton since 2001 with investments in across asset classes including equities, fixed income, private equity, real estate and infrastructure.
Franklin Templeton has had a presence in Korea starting in 1997 as the country’s first foreign asset management company. Globally, it has more than 1,300 investment professionals in 30 countries managing a total of over $1.4 trillion in assets, as of 30 June 2023.
