Australia’s ANZ will undergo organizational changes with a focus on its operational and technology functions.

ANZ will undergo a series of organizational changes to «further streamline and improve the efficiency, responsiveness, and effectiveness of its operations teams», according to a statement.

The Australian lender will form a group-wide operations function led by a new group executive operations who will be accountable for the bank’s capability center, property and procurement teams. An internal and external search for the role, which will report to CEO Shayne Elliott, is underway and expected to be completed in the coming months.

Data and Analytics

In addition, ANZ will also establish a group-wide data and analytics function led by a new C-suite officer and reporting to group executive technology Gerard Florian. The team will be responsible for data strategy and architecture along with shaping the use of artificial intelligence within the bank.

The new structure is expected to be operational from March 2025.

Clearer Accountability

According to Elliott, the changes will provide «accountabilities for operations will drive consistency and predictability» while capturing scale across the group and improving response to customers and other important stakeholders.

«Our vision is to create a more unified model for the way in which operations and other parts of the bank work together. This will ultimately unlock the next era of growth for the bank. It will also ensure we are able to acquire and retain the best talent available for these areas,» he said.
