5. Ranjit Khanna

rannjit Khanna 502

Perhaps the most unexpected name on the list to those not in the know, Ranjit Khanna has in fact been on Collardi’s radar since Union Bancaire Privée’s acquisition of Coutts and the uncertainty in its aftermath. CEO of Singapore and chief executive Private Banking, South East Asia at UBP, Khanna is well-versed with in the ways of pure-play private banking.

One of a handful of rising stars at Coutts, Khanna was absorbed into the merged platform and has since proven himself adept at managing teams through transitions - a skill that will no doubt prove inordinately useful at Pictet as it grapples with the scope of Collardi’s ambitions.

Khanna has a network of South East Asia bankers that he could tap into and has proved he is a stable pair of hands at the helm. That his personal style is close to Collardi’s – Khanna is urbane with an appreciation of fine wines and cigars – has already been established in the few conversations the two men have had over the years, and it would take very little to reinstate the dialogue.
