The only banker on the list that has a reputation to rival Collardi’s in Asia, Ravi Raju is the erstwhile Asia head of asset and wealth management at Deutsche Bank and current global head of ultra-high net worth in Asia for UBS, a role many believe is unlikely to keep Raju challenged for long.
Raju’s departure from Deutsche Bank was storied – in an unprecedented show of petulance, the German lender excluded UBS from its rights issue, underscoring just how vital he had been to its Asia ambitions.
Suave, energetic and a consummate people-person, Raju quite easily ticks several boxes on Collardi’s list. Whatsmore, he has tremendous cache in both Asian and Swiss banking circles and is himself a brand who would raise Pictet’s profile in the region merely by association. That he is actually very good at what he does and has a proven track-record as CEO are perks.
