Cryptocurrency continues to generate vast amounts of new wealth, including for Binance chief executive Changpeng Zhao who is believed to be Asia’s richest individual, according to estimates.
Binance founder and CEO Changpeng Zhao – nicknamed «CZ» – is estimated to have a net worth of $96 billion, according to Bloomberg.
This makes the Jiangsu native not only the world’s richest crypto billionaire but also the richest in Asia, surpassing Mukesh Ambani’s net worth of $92.9 billion, as per the Bloomberg Billionaire Index.
Crypto Not Included
While the estimate of Zhao’s wealth assumes 90 percent ownership of the largest cryptocurrency exchange by daily volume, it does not include personal holdings.
This includes his private holdings in cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin which he recently revealed he had first bought into in 2014.
Other notable crypto billionaires in the world include FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried ($15.4 billion) and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong ($8.93 billion).
