BNP Paribas China has tapped a new co-head of BNP Paribas Securities Services in China, to expand its asset servicing business on the mainland.

Stanley Song will take on the role from Shanghai, effective immediately, the bank said in a press release Thursday. He will report to CG Lai, who is CEO of BNP Paribas China, and to Franck Dubois, head of Asia Pacific for BNP Paribas Securities Services, the release said. Song will co-lead with Philippe Kerdoncuff, who has been in the role since 2016, the bank said.

In addition to expanding the bank’s asset services business in China, Song will also work on expanding the China Access program, which supports international investments into and out of China, BNP Paribas said.

Previously, Song was the head of the securities services at Deutsche Bank China, and had held senior client management and fund services roles at HSBC, State Street and Standard Chartered in China, the release said.

In 2021, BNP Paribas received a Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor (QFII) custodian and settlement licence in China, which allowed it to directly work with foreign institutional investors for access to Chinese equity and bond markets.
