Barclays has hired an energy expert to lead its environmental, social and governance-related research efforts in the Asia Pacific region.
Barclays has appointed Dave Dai as head of ESG research for APAC, according to a statement, reporting to London-based global head of ESG research Marie Freier.
Based in Hong Kong, Dai is tasked with leading a regional team of subject matter experts including climate scientists, former senior policy advisors and corporate sustainability consultants. The team collaborates with the bank's research analysts to identify «material ESG issues» for asset classes, sectors and companies under coverage.
Dai join from Hong Kong-listed Chinese natural gas company Tian Lun Gas where he was its chief strategy officer and head of ESG. Previously, he was a sell-side equity analyst for 13 years at Credit Suisse, Daiwa Capital Markets and CLSA where he covered Asian new energy and utilities.
