A former research executive from J.P. Morgan has joined Blackrock to bolster its sustainable investing capabilities.

Elaine Wu has been named a managing director and APAC head of research for Blackrock Sustainable Investing (BSI APAC), according to a statement. In the newly created role, Wu is based in Hong Kong and reports to head of BSI APAC Emily Woodland.

Wu has more than 14 years of experience in equity research in APAC, most recently as the head of Asia ex-Japan ESG and utilities equity research at J.P. Morgan. Previously, she also worked at Nomura and Lehman Brothers.

«Clients are increasingly turning to us to help them connect data, investment strategies, and sustainability insights to build better portfolios – especially in Asia,» Woodland said. «Our ability to do this has long depended on the bedrock of rigorous quantitative and qualitative research.»
