Carlyle has hired a 15-year industry professional as its head of private equity for Australia and New Zealand.
Geoff Hutchinson is to join Carlyle as a managing director and head of private equity for Australia and New Zealand, according to a statement released Sunday by the global investment firm.
Based in Sydney, Hutchinson will oversee investments in consumer, healthcare, technology, and financial services in the two markets.
Hutchinson has over 15 years of private equity experience, most recently at Morrison & Co as the co-head of Australia and New Zealand. Prior to that, he worked at Pacific Equity Partners for nearly 14 years leading and executing multiple private equity deals in the consumer, healthcare, education, and business services sectors. He has also worked at Bain & Company for 10 years in Sydney, London, and Johannesburg.

According to Carlyle, it has invested more than $24 billion of equity in 200 private equity transactions in the Asia Pacific region, of which $1.7 billion was from six transactions in Australia and New Zealand (figures as of June 30, 2022).
