Malaysia-based Maybank has announced the appointment of a new chief executive for investment banking.

Michael Oh-Lau has been named chief executive of Maybank Investment Banking Group, according to a statement, effective December 1. Oh-Lau succeeds Ami Moris who will retire after around four years in the role.

Oh-Lau has spent 27 years at Maybank, most recently as the managing director of corporate banking for group global banking. Previously, he also held other key leadership roles across debt markets and corporate banking.

«[Oh-Lau's] appointment is a testament to the group’s strong internal succession pipeline based on an individual’s proven capabilities and track record,» said Maybank group president and CEO Khairussaleh Ramli.
