US alternatives manager Carlyle has appointed a co-head of global portfolio solutions for Asia.
Carlyle has appointed Anuj Poddar as co-head of global portfolio solutions (GPS) for Asia, according to a statement, based in Mumbai. In the newly created role, he will work with Carlyle Asia’s country investment advisory teams, Asia vice chair Janine Feng, who oversees value creation strategies and initiatives in the region, as well as with Richard Elder, global head of GPS in the US.
Poddar has 30 years of corporate leadership and management consulting experience, most recently as CEO of Bajaj Electricals, an 80-year old consumer appliances and lighting solutions company in India. Previously, he also worked at Viacom18 Media in India, KPMG and Arthur Andersen.
«We are extremely excited to welcome Anuj to the team,» said Greg Zeluck, managing director and co-head of Carlyle Asia. «His new role dovetails with our increased focus on enhancing portfolio company value creation and as we look to increase the number of control buyout deals that we do in Asia.»
