It may have been a rough week for his Alibaba business with estimates of his own wealth having decreased by more than US$750 million but Hong Kong was buzzing last night with news that Jack Ma just might have bought the most expensive home in Hong Kong.
Located at 22 Barker Road on The Peak with possibly one of the best panoramic views of the glorious Hong Kong harbor and Kowloon skyline, (when there isn’t smog), and was for many years the home of the Belgian consulate. the Peak Tram stops nearby too.
The eye watering numbers are said to be in the region of HK$151,653 per square foot for the 9,900 sq ft, three-storey mansion. The price therefore would equate to HK$1.5 billion or US$190 million+.
The property agent and solicitor must also be pleased with their days work. Still as someone once said it is all-relative and with a net worth of US$31.2 billion it might be Jack Ma’s weekend retreat.
