Zurich's Credit Suisse has poached a veteran private banker for its Hong Kong business from rival Deutsche Bank, finews.asia has learned. She is the latest in a series of local hires from the Swiss bank.

Pauline Or joined Credit Suisse in January to cater to clients in the Hong Kong Market. Previously, Or was a private banker for Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong.

She has more than 20 years experience in private banking, including recent stints with DBS and Citi Private Bank before the German bank.

Deutsche's private bank has suffered several setbacks in recent months, most notably the defection of its regional head, Ravi Raju, for UBS in October.

China Focus

Credit Suisse has snapped up several bankers from rivals in recent months. They include Vincent Chan from Bank of China's private banking arm as team leader for the Chinese market.

The Swiss bank has high hopes for growth from Asia, particularly for its wealth management activities.

Credit Suisse also hired Chen Yu Ling, from Barclays Wealth, and Doris Sze, also from Bank of China, as a senior relationship manager.

The hires come alongside an intensified push from Credit Suisse in the onshore Chinese market in recent months.
