England emerged victorious from the Six Nations rugby tournament, but the team's coach is bolting for a better job – in investment banking.
Australian Eddie Jones led England to victory in the Six Nations, the northern hemisphere's most prestigious rugby tournament, on Saturday.
Now Jones, who coached Japan's national team to a historic World Cup win two years ago, has followed up with a new, three-year gig.
Jones, who is half-Japanese, has signed with Tokyo-based investment bank Nomura, «City A.M.» reported on Tuesday.
East Meets West
He will speak to the firm's clients about how his experiences in coaching and professional sports can be applied to finance, Nomura said.
«I hope to be able to share some of my experiences of what it takes to achieve success at the very highest level of competition with Nomura's clients and people, as well as on helping diverse groups work successfully together,» Jones said.
He has already worked for Goldman Sachs as an adviser, attending board meetings in Tokyo at least twice a year.
Nomura said it considers Jones, who isn't the first alum of the game to move into a high-profile job in finance, as the ideal person to connect the bank's eastern and western markets.
